Pullman-His Dark Materials
I was somewhat skeptical before me, a friend of the three-part series by Philip Pullman "His Dark Materials" gift. The first volume - "Northern Lights" - as I had to film "The Golden Compass" seen and this was no great revelation for me was the fantastic, more of a somewhat dry candy-colored piece of Hollywood with Nicole Kidman.
The book has a very different sound - much more complex, critical and in some cases - notably to the following volumes of "The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass" - also niht more suitable for smaller children. All the evangelicals, who can so exciting about Harry Potter, would continue to read this book, especially Volume III, probably direktemang to hell ...
The text is in English rather demanding, but with very good Englischkenntissen easily manageable. The style I really liked (eg, the language of the Gyptian!). Pullman gets an extra star from me that he can describe action scenes exciting, short and clear - no small matter!
But to the story. In a world that resembles unserern in many ways, lives in Oxford, the Mäddchen Lyra. She is a 12-year whirlwind that roams within the walls of a university and does and does what she wants. But soon she is drawn into an adventure that has to do with missing children, with a mysterious substance called Dust and the demons that everyone has - the soul-parts, materialized out of the body in animal form.
Lyras Search for her missing friend Roger leads them on a long journey in the world (s), to many interesting creatures and to himself, many more I will not betray.
And although the second part has a few lengths, I am with the Mulefas could not get used right and I always had the feeling from time to time are a few timelines come asynchronously something and the one or the other story line led to nirvana - the all by far one of the best fantasy epics that I have ever read was therefore definitely
***** (five out of five)
